Chengdu (Yinhe Dynasty Hotel)

City: Chengdu
Province: Sichuan
Month/Year of Travel: April 1999
Travel Route in China: Beijing to Chengdu to Guangzhou to Shanghai
Name of Hotel: Yinhe Dynasty Hotel
Comments about Hotel: Very nice accommodations. Our room was large, clean, and quiet. A crib was provided. Bottled water was replenished several times a day, and there was also a hotpot for boiling water. Laundry service was available and reasonable. Complete business center for faxing, e-mail, etc. Money exchange in the lobby.
Office or Orphanage: Chengdu Children's Welfare Center. The director was very nice, and all the babies in our group were healthy and well-cared for. We were not able to visit the orphanage, but we did drive past the outside.
Sights to See in this city: Thatched Cottage of Dufu, Bamboo Forest, Buddhist temples, statue of Mao.
Baby supplies can be purchased at: There was a large supermarket within walking distance, which had baby supplies, bottled water, and American snack food, as well as many Chinese food items. There was also an underground mall right in front of the hotel that had many clothing and toy stores.
Places to eat we liked: The restaurant in the hotel served excellent buffet-style breakfasts with a wide variety of Western and Chinese foods. There was a Chinese-style cafeteria several blocks away. KFC was right near the hotel.
