Fuzhou (Lakeside Hotel)

City: Fuzhou
Province: Fujian
Month/Year of Travel: May 1998
Travel Route in China: Flew into Fuzhou from Hong Kong, then flew Fuzhou to Guangzhou
Name of Hotel: Lakeside Hotel
Comments about Hotel: Four star. The rooms are spacious with wet bars (good place to mix formula) and roomy bathrooms. The staff is very pleasant and accommodating. Overlooks lake and is adjacent to a park. Nice pool area, including baby pool.
Office or Orphanage: All orphans from Fujian Province with the exception of ones from Xiamen are processed through Fuzhou.
Sights to See in this city: Xichan Temple, Panda World, shopping in Dongjeikou Department Store (it's more like a multi-story mall).
Baby supplies can be purchased at: Dongjeikou Department Store (grocery section), also a small grocery and convenience store is within walking distance of hotel.
Places to eat we liked: The Lakeville Cafe on the ground floor of the hotel has excellent American food. Fuzhou also has McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food restaurants.
Things you ought to know while staying here: Enjoy yourself. This is a very reasonably priced facility, and the staff in the American restaurant is very tolerant of and helpful with the babies. Laundry is done quite inexpensively and is presented beautifully when it is returned to the room.
